A couple of weeks ago, I installed the final mounts for the collection.
These final ten brackets allow me to have the entire collection on display - 160 helmets in all.
I have been collecting for 52 years now, with a focus on ground and sea combat helmets of the 20th Century.
To achieve this focus, over the last ten years or so, I've divested the collection of all Air Corps, Air Force, armor, parade, and military police helmets. I think that I have had nearly as many helmets pass through the collection than I have in the current collection.
With the carrying capacity determined by available wall-space, 160 is now as large as the collection can be, and the rule has been - one helmet in, one helmet out. This has caused some difficult decision making. In this photo you peek into the second, and main, helmet room.
Over the years, I have received several helmets as gifts, including those circled.
Termed the "war room" by many, I spend many relaxing hours in the helmet rooms listening to Old-time radio (OTR...it's a thing) and enjoying the collection.
None of it would be possible without my wonderful wife, who completely encourages my hobbies. I'm a very lucky guy .
I hope your collection brings you joy as well.
See you next time with another cool helmet from the collection.
Mannie
